Is Your Private Water Supply Safe? Test and Treat Your Water Supply in 4 Simple Steps!

A Private Water Supply can contain dirt, sediments, bacteria and other contaminants that can make it taste and smell bad and in some cases even endanger your health! You might not see the contamination and are therefore confident that the water extracted from the ground will be suitable for the intended use (drinking, irrigation, cleaning, livestock watering). However, harmful bacteria, parasites, and viruses are invisible to the naked eye, so water which looks and tastes good may not necessarily be safe to drink. For example, minerals such as iron and magnesium, as well as other micro-organisms, are difficult to notice, but they can change the quality of your water supply and can even cause serious long-term illness.

So ensuring your Water Supply is safe is essential… and by obtaining a water quality test to identify any contamination and define the right treatment for your private water supply, you can save time, money and the hassle of repairing clogged pipework and equipment.

4 Simple steps to test and treat your water supply

As the water quality can vary from location to location, we highly recommend obtaining a detailed water quality analysis of your private water supply before selecting borehole water filtration products. At Whisper Pumps, we have over 25 years of experience supporting our customers to improve the quality of their private water supply, by testing and treating the contamination problem with the right filtration treatment. With our water testing service, we will lab-test your water and recommend any remedial treatment that is required based on our findings... allowing you to use your water supply carefree!

Here is how it works:

Step 1

  • Once you place your order, we will dispatch your water sample kit to you so you can take a sample from your water supply. The kit contains 6 sterile bottles for you to fill with the water, and instructions on how to collect the samples. If you have any questions or need more information about our private water testing service, please don’t hesitate to contact our technical sales team who will be more than happy to assist you.

Step 2

  • When taking the water samples, we recommend taking samples of your drinking water at the tap and from the source. Testing both will help you determine if your current water treatment system is working correctly and if the quality of your water source has changed. Please bear in mind that the quality of your water source depends on multiple environmental factors and may change over time, and can do so suddenly. Therefore, it is essential to regularly test your well and borehole water and adjust your filtration treatment system if needed.

Step 3

  • After receiving your water samples, we will perform the testing in our laboratory, where we will conduct a range of tests - all in line with the EU drinking water standard. Our water testing services include bacterial, physical and chemical parameters, which will show if your water complies with the EU drinking water standards and is below the regulatory limit. Changes in the water quality can go unnoticed as the water may look, smell, and taste the same, but our test can detect any abnormalities and help you identify harmful contamination.

Step 4

  • The final step of our test and treat service is providing you with a full detailed report of the results. Our experts can explain the results and what they mean for you and the safety of your private water supply. Based on the detailed analysis, we may also recommend some bespoke water treatments that will help you address the contaminations in the report.
